Full of potential, full of talent. Maybe most of that potential has gone to waste before now and maybe I’m exactly where I need to be at this instant. I just know that at this instant I am capable of turning that mass and pouring it into this instant. Is what Republicans are saying and Krugman has this great phrase that they are “waking up and smelling the crazy” and wondering how on earth could this have happened to them!?

There aren’t many positive aspects to the looming possibility of a U.S. debt default. But there has been, I have to admit, an element of comic relief — of the black-humor variety — in the spectacle of so many people who have been in denial suddenly waking up and smelling the crazy.

Today I listened to the birdsong outside my window while browsing iTunes for stations to play. I was running through the ambient music section and ran across ~birdsong~ and thought ‘what the hell’ and put it on.

Besides having a lot of pleasant, relaxing, bird noise, my kitty suddenly perched on the back of a loveseat where she started to look at and stalk the real birds outside. Then it hit me, that all this activity and this art begun by taking what was already in the environment and enhancing it. I sort of took what was there and gave it a little push. As a result I have all this interesting activity and life going on around me.

The Sad Thing

about the tablet market and the iPads and the like is that they are eventually going to drive the desktop out of the market. The only reason this is particularly sad to me is that I can’t dinker and play around with the small hand held devices the way I can with PCs. With the desktops I can build my own, customize them exactly how I want and put into them exactly what I need. when I boot them up for the first time I get the satisfaction a car hobbyist must feel when he/she finally puts the finishing touches on her/his hotrod – except for a fraction of the effort.

Oh well, maybe eventually we’ll get highly customizable tablets in the future, but as they are they’re so small and so cheaply made people will be just tossing them in the trash for years to come.

Maybe I’ll get lucky and there will always be die hards like me wanting desktops. After all, it would be handy to having a main docking unit for the pads, pads, cameras, and the like.

Our National Past time – Chicken

Both parties, Democrat and Republican, are playing a game of political chicken with the nation. The Republicans want power and they are willing to do anything they can get away with to get/keep it. However, it seems that the Dems are beginning to wake up to the fact that their political survival is at stake in this stand-off and are not as willing to compromise as the president is. So… the result is that the Republicans are sure that the Dems will cave on the budget compromise because they have up until now but now the Dems aren’t willing to cave because if they ‘compromise’ on social security and Medicare their careers are over.

I suspect it will get done but a bit messily and there will have to be stop gap fixes or some things pushed down the road.

MD Anderson done did PICC on me

And gave me some bruising along the inner bicep, courtesy of the blood thinners I’m taking. Next Monday is another doc appointment and the beginning of my courses of chemo PRE(RCHOP), which is the popular new drug for lymphoma lately. We’re talking 8 hours that day. Hooboy.

Since I’m also sporting crutches, that inner bicep bruise is challenging.

tomorrow i have t0 get my PICC line in. that consists of running a port into my arm and a catheter up close to my heart. its supposed to be a bit uncomfy but i volunteered for the happy meds. hopefully they are reeally happy med.
